Hello everyone! As you can see I've decided to have a little change around with the website. So much of my work lately has been with composition, sound design and sample libraries, and I really wanted to have one place where I can make announcements about all of the projects I'm working on without anything seeming too out of place.
In time there will be a new store, and perhaps even personal releases that can be purchased or donated to. Until then, things will continue to change around for a while, so please bear with me and if you notice any problems with the site just send me a message, or use the comments section below.
Yes; it is absolutely still being worked on. Just very slowly. I'll admit it's somewhat frustrating that I can turn a library track around in six hours when asked to, and yet take so much time with the new album. But, as you creative types can attest to, when it's not happening, it's not happening.
So much has changed in the scene since I started work on it, and much has changed for me also. And of course there was my encounter with tendinitis earlier this year that forced me to take a break and fix my working environment (perhaps I'll do a post on this some time). Thankfully everything has healed quite nicely, and I can now lift a mug of tea again.
All of this is to say that no, Chimp Spanner is not forgotten. But in order to do it at all I've had to branch out into other (equally exciting) work.
I don't recall making an announcement about it but for the last few months I've been working with the wonderful people over at ALIBI Music Library. It's been a fantastic experience pushing myself to write in styles I never normally would, from Trap and Hip Hop to Reggae/Ska, Chill Wave and Electro Funk and everything in between. I even managed to pick up best Hip Hop track of 2015 at the Library Music Awards. Who saw that coming?
Perhaps the biggest news was that I also signed a deal to write a 20 track album for Red Bull Media House at the start of this year, which has been a huge undertaking but again, an incredible experience so far. The work on that is still ongoing but I hope to be able to share it with you all soon.
The past few months have seen the release of my first two sample kits through Audio Imperia, as those of you who follow me on Facebook will already be aware. Every sound has been lovingly (sometimes angrily) crafted from scratch including booms, drones, pulses, downers, multi-sampled synths and a whole lot more. We've already planned the next few kits and I've got some great ideas that will hopefully benefit some of you out there as well, whether you're producing library music or looking for some crazy drops and FX for your live sets. You can find links to them on the front page gallery.
So that's all...for now. Plenty more to come in the weeks and months ahead!
